Mr. William Levi "Bill" Owens, 76, of Dickenson Mountain Road, Franklin, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at his home.

He was born December 4, 1939 in Wharncliff, WV and was the son of the late Robert and Emma Gibson Owens.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam Era. Bill was a coal miner for 28 years, before retiring to Pendleton County. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, a member of the American Legion and Loyal Order of the Moose.  He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Three grandchildren -

Lindsay (& Scott) Cline
Kyle Surber

And two great-grandchildren -
Liam & Adalee Hudnall

He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Walker and a grandson, Jeremy Moore.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, September 2, 2016 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.  The casket will be closed.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny, West Virginia.  Military services will be conducted there by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 141 of Belfrey, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, it was Bill's wish that contributions be made to the Potomac Highlands Wounded Warriors Fund, P. O. Box 754, Franklin, WV  26807.
