William Nyal Gilbert, 88, of Paw Paw, West Virginia, passed away near his home on Friday, December 8, 2023.

He was born June 8, 1935 at Castlewood, Virginia and was the son of the late William Paul Gilbert and Sallie Frances (Parrott) Gilbert.

He retired after twenty years of service in the U.S. Marines, where he was a cook, and attained the rank of Sergeant.

On August 30, 1958 he married Helen Virginia (Judy) Gilbert, who survives.

Paul Travis Gilbert (Charlotte) of Mountain City, TN

Seven grandchildren

And six great-grandchildren

Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by one brother and a son-in-law, David.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 15, 2023 at Woodrow Union Church near Paw Paw with Pastors Ken Burkhart and Nathan Travis officiating.

Interment will be at Woodrow Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion Fort Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
