Mr. William "Bill" Charlton, 65, of Seneca Rocks, WV died Monday, September 10, 2012 as the result of a tractor-trailer and truck accident in Rockingham County, Virginia. He was born April 13, 1947 in Akron, OH and was the son of Alpha Harper Charlton of Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV and the late Charles Henry Charlton. He had retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army and two years in the Marine Corp. For the past five years, Bill had worked at Dynamic Aviation in Bridgewater, VA as a Sgt. with the Bridgewater Airpark Police Dept. He attended Onego United Methodist Church. On July 31, 1999 he married Ruthaleen Tingler Charlton, who survives. Also surviving are - Five daughters - Scarlotte Charlton Gilkerson and husband, Bobby of Bridgewater, VA Abigaile Charlton Miller and friend, Neil Foster of Mt. Solon, VA Joann Zook and husband, Rick of Bridgewater, VA Carmen Shifflett of Bridgewater, VA Renea Moneypenny of Grottoes, VA Three sisters - Charlene Dean of New Orleans, LA Neva Knight of McGaheysville, VA Becky Whitmer of Broadway, VA Three brothers - Alden Charlton of Harrisonburg, VA Gary Charlton of Harrisonburg, VA Michael Charlton of Salisbury, NC And a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren Bill was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Charlton, David Charlton and Wayne Charlton and three sisters, Phyllis Hinton, Susie Deavers and Linda Charlton. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, West Virginia with Rev. Earl Bible officiating. The family will receive friends at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 PM.
