Mr. Vernon Rudolph Propst, Jr., "Rudy", 64, of Ft. Defiance, Virginia passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, surrounded by his family.

He was born February 18, 1953 at Harrisonburg, Virginia and was the son of the late Vernon R. Propst and June Irene Eye Propst.

He was a 1970 graduate of Franklin High School and he received his B.S. degree in Business Management from West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery, WV.  Rudy had worked for Drug Fair in Harrisonburg and Stroop Oil Company and he retired after 30 years with Cline Energy.  He was a member of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church, Harrisonburg Kiwanis Club, Harrisonburg Chamber of Commerce, Harrisonburg Planning Commission and the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Housing Authority.  He recently received his commercial real estate license.

On June 16, 1973, he married Debra Rexrode Propst, who survives.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, June 16, 2017 at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street, Franklin, West Virginia.

Burial will be private.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Harrisonburg Baptist Church, 115 S. Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA  22801.

The family requests no flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Harrisonburg Baptist Church.
