Mr. Vernon R. Propst, 93, of Franklin, West Virginia passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at his home. He was born May 16, 1921 at Moyers, West Virginia and was the son of the late Lawrence Propst and Sally Harper Propst. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. Vernon was a farmer and school bus driver and had worked at the Franklin Meat Market, Mt. Storm Power Plant and Sugar Grove Naval Radio Station Security. He served sixteen years as Pendleton County Commissioner, was a member of the Pendleton County Board of Health, St. John Lutheran Church, Franklin Ruritan Club, Sugar Grove Lions Club and was a life member of Sugar Grove V.F.W. Post #9666. On August 30, 1946, he married June Irene Eye Propst, who preceded him in death on July 6, 1995. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Burton Propst. Surviving are - Two daughters - Shelia L. Lambert (& husband, Jerry) of Franklin, WV Cynthia E. Hurry (& husband, Bob) of Franklin, WV One son - Rudy Propst (& wife, Deb) of Ft. Defiance, VA One stepsister - Mary Alice Evick (& husband, Bennie) of Franklin, WV One brother - Leland E. Propst of Franklin, WV Seven grandchildren Twelve great-grandchildren One great-great-grandson One step-grandchild Two step-great-grandchildren Two step-great-great-grandchildren A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 10, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Moyers, WV with Revs. Jason & Jess Felici officiating. Interment will be at the St. John Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by members of the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
