Vernon Eugene Belford, 86, of Paw Paw, WV passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Moran Manor in Westernport, MD where he had resided for several years.
He was born July 7, 1931 at Bethel, WV and was the son of the late John Emory Belford and Edith Loretta Ginevan Belford.
Vernon was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Vernon had worked as a heavy equipment operator from 1958 - 1968 for Whitmyer Brothers, Inc. in Charlottesville, VA; from 1968 - 1978 for Lewhite Construction in Richmond, VA; from 1978 - 1986 for Colter & Chapell Electric Company in Winston-Salem, NC; from 1986 - 1992 at Smith Excavating & Utility Company in Berkeley Springs, WV and from 1992 - 1999 for Belford Construction Company in Paw Paw.
On November 22, 1996 he married Barbara C. Belford who preceded him in death on December 20, 2011.

One great-granddaughter
And a number of nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Belford and two brothers, Dennis Belford and Lyle Belford.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 10 at Kimble Funeral Home in Paw Paw where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 11 with Pastor Robert Combs officiating.
Interment will be at Ginevan Cemetery near Paw Paw with military graveside services conducted by members of the American Legion Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
