Mr. Vandell Brookes, 80, of Franklin, West Virginia, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was born September 1, 1930 at Glen Daniel, WV and was the son of the late Wirt Brooks and Zada Lucas Brooks. He was a Veteran, having served in Vietnam, and retired after 25 years in the U.S. Army Med. Corp. He was an LPN, having worked at John Hopkins and Pendleton Nursing Home. He is survived by - One daughter - Amanda Brookes of Franklin, WV Two sons - Harry Brookes of Reisterstown, MD Anthony Brookes of Annapolis, MD Three sisters - Irene Renault of Vero Beach, FL Clara Maxine Brown of Summersville, WV Nancy Brooks Estep of Beckley, WV Three grandchildren One great-grandson He was preceded in death by one son, Gary, and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, WV with Rev. Robert Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
