Mrs. Thelma Watson, 80, of Charles Town, West Virginia and formerly of Brandywine, passed away Tuesday evening, August 4, 2015 at her home. She was born July 13, 1935 in Moyers, WV and was the daughter of the late George Hiram Rexrode and Mertie Merle Puffenbarger Rexrode. Thelma worked at Hanover Shoe Company, Franklin Garment Company, and Pendleton Nursing Home over the years. She was also a volunteer for the South Fork Rescue Squad and a member of the South Fork Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Thelma was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. On January 20, 1971 she married Charles J. "Mike" Watson, who preceded her in death on February 17, 2006. She is survived by - Two daughters - Terri Hedrick (& Jerry Smith) of Bryce, VA Sondra (& Steve) Risinger of Hedgesville, WV Two sons - Mike (& Melissa) Avey of Deerfield, VA Jamie (& Shana) Watson of Charles Town, WV One step-daughter - Sharon "Cherie" (& Galen) Batzel of Ridgeley, WV A daughter-in-law - Nola Avey of Weyers Cave, VA One brother - Charles Rexrode of Moyers, WV Nine grandchildren - Kevin Avey, Robert Avey, Josh Hedrick, Chad Risinger, Baylee Carroll-Lynch, Camryn Watson, Brandon Avey, Kate Avey, and Courtney Batzel And Nine great-grandchildren - Alec Avey, Jacob Avey, Reice Hedrick, Adryana Hedrick, Ian Jones, Eli Risinger, AdiLynn Risinger, Tyler Griffin, and Nathan Fridley She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Avey; two granddaughters, Ashley Risinger and Megan Batzel; three sisters, Ruth Breece, Sadie Frye, and Faye Bodkin; and one brother, William Rexrode. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday, August 8 at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street, Franklin, West Virginia. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Kimble Funeral Home with Pastor Jess Felici officiating. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery at Brandywine, West Virginia.
