Steven Clark Puffenbarger, 57, of Verona, VA passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 following a two year illness caused by a genetic liver disorder.

Steve was born May 11, 1961 in Washington, D.C. and was the son of Betty Puffenbarger and the late Bruce Puffenbarger (1932 - 1986).

In 1975, the family moved "home" to Franklin, WV, where Steve graduated from Franklin High School in 1979.  He was a member of the Smith Creek Church of the Brethren.  The majority of his working life was spent at Marshall's Inc. Distribution Center in Bridgewater, VA, where he retired after 30 years.  Steve, or "Puff" as he was known to many, was a very funny, no-nonsense guy.  He loved sports, especially the Pendleton County Wildcats, the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Washington Redskins, Nationals and Wizards.  He very much enjoyed watching his grandsons, nieces and nephew play anything that included a ball.  He enjoyed ATVing, fishing with his friends and traveling with family.  While he moved away from Franklin shortly after high school, he was most at home in the mountains of West Virginia, and loved visiting there.  He especially loved spending every waking moment with his grandsons.

And great nieces and nephew -
Kinzley, Cortlyn and Connor Hartman of Franklin, WV

Steve was preceded in death by his beloved father.

Steve's family welcomes his family and friends to spend time with them at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, WV on Thursday, September 20 from 6:00 - 800 PM.

Friends are invited to share a favorite "Puff Story" at his celebration of life at the funeral home on Friday, September 21 beginning at 11:00 AM.  Pastor Thomas Hanks will officiate at the service.

Steve will be buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, near his dad, Bruce.

In lieu of flowers, family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Kyle Puffenberger Memorial Scholarship, 4625 Greenawalt Gap Road, Upper Tract, WV  26866.  The family also invites you to donate blood in Steve's name at your local blood services organization.
