Mr. Roy "Pap" Covey, 80, of Paw Paw, West Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. He passed away at Western Maryland Regional Health Center in Cumberland, Maryland. Roy was born March 27, 1934 in Beckley, West Virginia, grew up in Crab Orchard, WV and was the son of the late Fred and Sadie Beasley Covey. He was a tractor trailer driver for 48 years, working for various trucking companies including Boise Cascade and Frock Brothers Trucking. Roy was a devoted member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Paw Paw, WV. He was a very vocal "Southern Democrat". Growing up in Raleigh County, his Sunday School Teacher was the late former WV State Senator Robert C. Byrd. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 53 years, Carolyn Louise Powers Covey. Also surviving are - Three sons - Thomas William Covey & his wife, Rebecca of Paw Paw, WV Kenneth Edward Covey of Paw Paw, WV Cody Lee Covey & his wife, Penny of Fort Ashby, WV Two daughters - Terri Dickson & her husband, Jeff of Aiken, SC Tina Lynn Covey Nestor of Fort Ashby, WV Three sisters - Jo Fleshman of Beckley, WV Wanda Lynn Covey of Canton, OH Beulah Lee Covey of Ft. Myers, FL One brother - Charles "Ken" Covey of Richmond, VA Grandchildren - Kelli Zefting & her husband, Dana of Aiken, SC Robert McClearen, Jr. & his wife, Liz of Graniteville, SC Larry Hook, Jr. of Paw Paw, WV Katelyn Brooke Covey of Paw Paw, WV Sierra Jo Covey of Paw Paw, WV Cody Lee Covey of Fort Ashby, WV Roger Lee Nestor of Fort Ashby, WV McKayla Talton of Boonesboro, MD Brittany Dawn Kesner of Ft. Ashby, WV Alexzander Scott Nickelson of Ft. Ashby, WV Great-grandchildren - Zoey Kate Zefting Wyatt McClearen Audrey McClearen And a multitude of Nieces and Nephews Preceding him in death were - Three brothers - Fred Covey, Thomas Covey, Buford Covey One sister - Blanche Covey Lilly Campbell Two nephews - Robert Fleshman and Charles Kenneth Covey And a niece - Sandra Kay Covey The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, August 22 at Kimble Funeral Home, 188 Moser Avenue, Paw Paw, WV 25434. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Paw Paw with Pastor Earl Travis officiating. Interment will be at Camp Hill Cemetery, Paw Paw, West Virginia. Thomas Covey, Kenneth Covey, Cody Covey, Big John Greene, Larry Hook, Jr. and Jimmy Walter will serve as his pallbearers. Immediately following the committal service at Camp Hill Cemetery, the family invites friends to a luncheon and time of fellowship at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church and to a reception later in the day at the residence of Kenneth Covey of Paw Paw. Special thanks to Niece Debbie Shelton for making her Uncle Roy's last day on Earth very special with her visit and to Robert and Dustin Rowzee for comforting the family during the time of passing.
