Roxie M. Shirk, 78, of Upper Tract, WV, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. She was born July 26, 1931 at Smoke Hole, WV and was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Champ and Sadie VanMeter Champ. She had worked as a cook at Brill's Restaurant and Carl VanMeter's Restaurant and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Charles Ed Shirk, in 1998. Surviving are - Five sons - Olie Shirk of Moorefield, WV Edward "Jack" Shirk of Upper Tract, WV Carl Shirk of Upper Tract, WV Dale Shirk of Franklin, WV David Shirk of Dorcas, WV One sister - Amanda Thorp of Front Royal, VA Four stepsons Nine grandchildren A number of great-grandchildren And a number of step-grandchildren She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two stepdaughters, eight brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin with Elder Steve Kimble officiating. Burial will be at the Champ Cemetery at Smoke Hole. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Kimble Funeral Home.
