Roland Howard Hamman, 85, of Romney, WV and formerly of Stephens City, VA, died Monday, July 20, 2026, at Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney.

He was born April 27, 1941, in Shenandoah, VA, and was the son of the late Benjamin Edward Hamman and Anna Alberta McDonald Hamman.

Roland worked in the apple orchards for Kent Barley and Robert Solenberger from age 16 until he retired at age 83.  He was a member of the Meadow Mills Church of the Brethren in Middletown, VA.

On June 28, 1963, he married Kay V. Hottinger Hamman, who preceded him in death on January 9, 2016.  Four brothers, George McDonald, Grayson Hamman, Benjamin Hamman and Andrew Hamman, two sisters, Pansy Darr and Weigella Hebb, and a grandson, Richard D. Stout III, also predeceased him.

David Puffinberger, Jr. (Kyrie), James Puffinberger, Marykay Hamman (Kevin), Jacob Hamman, Storm Hamman and Skylar Hamman

Three great-grandchildren –

Leelyn Puffinberger, David Puffinberger, III, and Roland Puffinberger

And a number of nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, July 24, 2026, at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street in Franklin, West Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 25 at the Hottinger-Hamman Cemetery, 841 Brady Hollow Road, Brandywine, West Virginia with Pastor Nip Crites officiating.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
