Richard G. Warner, 81, of Franklin, West Virginia passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at his home.

He was born January 9, 1940 at Riverton, WV and was the eldest son of the late Gale J. Warner and Elsie L. Smith Warner.

A 1958 graduate of Circleville High School, Richard left the family farm to work for American Security and Trust Company in Washington, D.C. as a bookkeeper.  After a short stay in "the big city", he returned to Pendleton County and worked a few years for Germany Valley Limestone Co.  During the early 1970's, he worked in Harrisonburg, and then in June of 1978, he went to work for Daniels International on the Bath County, Virginia pumped storage project.  When the dam was completed in the mid 1980's, he spent some time maintaining the family farm and helping his aging parents. He worked at Hanover Shoe Company and Brockway, and was a funeral attendant at Kimble Funeral Home for twenty years before his health declined.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He served as Bishop of the Franklin Ward in the early 1980's.  Richard took much pride in his wife's cake decorating business, helping her transport the cakes to weddings and other events. He had a passion for BSA and Harley-Davidson motorcycles and very much enjoyed spending time with his fur baby, Tiny.  She preceded him in death.

Richard first married Letha Mae Lambert, and they had two daughters.  Their union dissolved, and on March 31, 1972, he married Ruth A. Hartman Judy, who survives.

Fifteen great-grandchildren

And a number of nieces and nephews

His half-brother, M. Dale Smith, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Franklin at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, November 10, with Bishop Kyle Apple and Elders David Hartman and Tony Judy officiating.  Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton, West Virginia.
