Mr. Raymond "Shorty" Cowger, 97, of Franklin, West Virginia, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at his home. He was born July 8, 1913 at Franklin, West Virginia and was the son of the late Casper Cowger and Emma Patch Cowger. He was a school bus driver, a painter, a farmer, had worked for Potomac Valley Soil Conservation where he mowed flood control dams, and had operated Atlantic Gas Station in Franklin. On April 20, 1938, he married Leah Dunkle Cowger, who preceded him in death on May 17, 2000. He is survived by - Two daughters - Wilma Boyette of Franklin, WV Nancy Nesselrodt of Purcellville, VA One sister - Mary Shelkette of Oklahoma Two brothers - Jesse Cowger of Louisiana Harold Cowger of Baltimore, MD Twelve Grandchildren Twenty-four Great-Grandchildren Fifteen Great-Great-Grandchildren He was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie, and three sisters, Viola, Bessie and Catherine. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, West Virginia with Ministers Irving Ross and Carlton Schooley officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery at Franklin, West Virginia. The family will receive friends at the Kimble Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 30.
