Mr. Ralph J. Thompson, 78, of Brandywine, West Virginia passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, West Virginia. He was born March 8, 1935 at Ruddle, West Virginia and was the son of the late Ona Glenn Thompson, Sr. and Lillie Mae Meadows Thompson. He was a sawmill worker and farmer and had worked at Wampler-Longacre in Hinton, VA. Ralph was a member of Brandywine First Baptist Church, and a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. On August 13, 1977, he married Violet Ruddle Thompson, who survives. Also surviving are - One son - Tex Thompson (& his wife, Carol) of Brandywine, WV One brother - Dale "Mark" Thompson (& his wife, Eleanor) of Upper Tract, WV Three step-grandchildren Three step-great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by one brother, Ona G. Thompson, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel, 80 South Main Street, Franklin, West Virginia with Rev. Stanley Kile and Rev. Harold Cullers officiating. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract, West Virginia. Terry Bodkin, Shawn Pennybacker, Doug Reedy, Bryan Hedrick, Jeremy Thompson, Kevin Thompson,Tee Schell and Calvin Kline will serve as his pallbearers. Friends may call after 8:00 AM Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Kimble Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
