Mr. Philip Wimer, 83, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Emeritus Senior Living in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was born July 20, 1928 at Franklin, West Virginia and was the son of the late Alfred Taylor Wimer and Anna Rebecca Vandevander Wimer. Philip had worked at Max Ruddle's Sawmill in Franklin and retired from Walker Manufacturing after thirty-three years. He was a member of Garbers Church of the Brethren. On May 22, 1947, he married Genavee C. Pennington Wimer, who survives. Also surviving are - Two daughters - Sharon S. (& her husband, Wampler, Jr.) Hottinger of Dayton, VA Debbie (& her husband, David) Hartman of Harrisonburg, VA One son - Shirl O. (& his wife, Ann) Wimer of Brandywine, WV One sister - Lucy Bennett of Petersburg, WV One brother - Ambers (& his wife, Frances)Wimer of Cherry Grove, WV Six grandchildren - Troy Wimer, Tracy Wimer, Shawn Hottinger, Angela Hottinger, Billie Jo Hartman and Amy Hartman And nine great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by four brothers - Ocie Wimer, Walter Wimer, Marvin Wimer and Martin Wimer; two sisters - Regina Arbaugh and Sally Greathouse. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, West Virginia with Pastor Walt Cruell officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday, November 19 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
