Naomi Wilfong Mitchell, 97, of Sugar Grove, West Virginia died Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

She was born December 1, 1926 and was the daughter of the late John Boyd Wilfong and Rosa Florence Varner Wilfong.

She was a graduate of the Franklin High School Class of 1947, was a homemaker and loved animals, especially her cats. She was a member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church, the Home Demonstration Club, V.F.W. Post 9666 Ladies Auxiliary and the Pendleton County Historical Society.  She enjoyed decorating cakes, crocheting, gardening and researching genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Garland Edward Sheffer, and by her second husband, Other C. "Dick" Mitchell.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday December 31, 2023 at St. Michael Church Cemetery at Sugar Grove with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating.
