Myrtle Virginia Kiser Crider, 87, of Brandywine, West Virginia passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. She was born May 6, 1928 at Mitchell, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Berlin Kiser and Clona Myrtle Pitsenbarger Kiser. Myrtle was a graduate of Franklin High School and Dunsmore College and was very active in community affairs for many years. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, having served on the Church Council. She was a member of the Sugar Grove V.F.W. Post #9666 Ladies Auxiliary and also served as Past President of District 7. Myrtle was a member of the West Virginia Farm Bureau and served as Chairperson of Region 2. She had worked for the Navy Annex in Arlington as a Fiscal Accounting clerk for many years. On November 6, 1949, she married George H. Crider, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 15, 2013. She and her husband, along with their sons, built the first large double decker poultry house in Pendleton County in 1965. Mrs. Crider was recognized for her distinguished service to the West Virginia Poultry industry at the President's Banquet during the Poultry Association's Convention in Moorefield. Surviving are - Three sons - Donald Lee Crider (& his wife, Patricia) of Manassas, VA Danny George Crider (& his wife, Sharon) of Brandywine, WV George H. Crider, Jr. (& his wife, Delores) of Brandywine, WV Seven grandchildren - Amy Crider, Lindsey Crider, April (& Justin) Simmons, Derek (& Amanda) Crider, Travis Crider, Wesley Crider and Holly Crider One great-grandson - Colby Simmons And a number of nieces and nephews Myrtle was preceded in death by three brothers, Everette Kiser, Curtis Kiser and Edwin Kiser and one sister, Glenna Simmons. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastors Jason and Jess Felici officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 30 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
