Mildred Adamson Gilkeson's Obituary
Mildred Adamson Gilkeson, 93, of Fort Seybert, West Virginia passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Bridgewater Retirement Community in Bridgewater, Virginia where she had resided since December.
She was born December 10, 1922 at Fort Seybert, WV and was the daughter of the late Jasper Henry Adamson and Mattie Susan Pope Adamson.
A 1940 graduate of Franklin High School, Mildred had been employed by the WVU Extension Service, War Price & Rationing Board, Potomac Valley Soil Conservation District and USDA Soil Conservation Service. She was a member of the Wide-Awake 4-H Club, Fairview-Bethel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, Fort Seybert Extension Homemakers, the Pendleton County Historical Society and she served on the Board of Directors of Pendleton Senior and Family Services.
On June 26, 1943, she married William O. Gilkeson (Oct. 23, 1919 - July 27, 1991), who preceded her in death.
Surviving are -
One daughter - Sue Rexrode (& husband, Charles) of Bridgewater, VA
Two sons -
Ron Gilkeson (& wife, Velda) of Dayton, VA
Don Gilkeson (& wife, Susan) of Bridgewater, VA
Five grandchildren -
Darren (& Carissa) Gilkeson
Alison (& Sean) Hanifee
Chad (& Katie) Rexrode
Jason (& Laura) Gilkeson
Adam (& Kaitlyn) Gilkeson
Six great-grandchildren - Evan Hanifee, Brenan Hanifee, Ty Rexrode, Luke Rexrode, Madelyn Gilkeson and Todd Gilkeson
And a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Teter, one brother, Olin C. Adamson and one grandson, Lance Gilkeson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2016 at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street, Franklin, West Virginia.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Kimble Funeral Home with Pastor Carl L. Smeltzer officiating.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery at Fort Seybert, WV.
