Michael Scott "Spud" Wimer, 41, of Franklin, WV passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in Highland County, Virginia as the result of a logging accident. He was born May 10, 1972 at Staunton, Virginia and was the son of Vernon Lee Wimer and Shirley Beverage Wimer of Franklin. His maternal grandparents are John & Gladys Beverage of Monterey, Virginia and paternal grandparents are Bonnie Wimer of Franklin, WV and the late Marion "Bill" Wimer. Spud was a 1991 graduate of Franklin High School. He was employed by Fisher Logging of Bartow, West Virginia and was a member of the Smith Creek Church of the Brethren. On July 1, 2006, he married Joy Thompson Wimer, who survives. Also surviving are - A daughter - Ashlyn Wimer at home A son - Brody Wimer at home Two sisters - Leigh Ann Wimer of Harrisonburg, VA Kristi Miller of Franklin,WV His mother-in-law - Carolyn Thompson of Franklin, WV One nephew - Camden Miller And two nieces - Chloe and Morgan Miller Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel, 80 South Main Street, Franklin, WV with Brother Tom Hanks officiating. Burial will be at the Judy Family Cemetery at Franklin, West Virginia. Brandon Reel, Chris Harper, Jamie Hoover, Brian Landis, Allen Eye, Matt Nesselrodt, Adam Lough, Gabriel Hammer will serve as his pallbearers. Friends may call at Kimble Funeral Home after 7:00 AM Friday. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. Memorials may be made to a fund for his children, c/o Pendleton Community Bank, Attn: Anthony Mullenax, P. O. Box 487 Franklin, West Virginia 26807. The family has requested that friends dress in casual attire for all services - Spud would want that.
