Michael Shane Nelson, 41, of Franklin, WV (formerly of Linthicum Heights, MD) passed away June 6, 2019 due to an apparent heart attack at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He was born November 3, 1977 at the Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD and was the only child of Wendell and Darlene (Thompson) Nelson.

Mr. Nelson attended college in Maryland and graduated cum laude from Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, VA.  He had worked as assistant banquet manager for the Holiday Inn (Inner Harbor) Baltimore, MD and restaurant manager at the Princess Royale Hotel in Ocean City, MD; as well as being employed at Gould Fiber Optics in Millersville, MD; Miller Coors in Elkton, VA and American Woodmark in Moorefield, WV.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling, which included an African safari in Zimbabwe with his parents.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlie and Geneva Thompson and Clara Arbaugh and Jacob Nelson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM next Saturday, August 3 at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeffrey Thompson officiating.
