Michael Trent "Grizz" VanMeter, 65, of Upper Tract, WV passed away Friday, May 8, 2020 at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

He was born December 25, 1954 at Petersburg, WV and was the son of the late Lester William VanMeter and Dorothy Marie (Helmick) VanMeter.

He worked for ALL Construction.

On December 25, 1975, he married Ruthlene Morral VanMeter who survives.

One son -

Michael Lynn VanMeter of Petersburg, WV

One sister -

Cathy Pence of Ft. Seybert, WV

Two brothers -

Donnie Lee VanMeter (Ruth) of Upper Tract, WV

Lester "Petie" VanMeter of Upper Tract, WV

Seven grandchildren -

Zachary, Ashley, Destiny, Josie, Michael, Travis and Brooklyn

And a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were a son, Michael Lester VanMeter and two brothers, David VanMeter and Ronnie VanMeter

A private graveside service will be held at the Bowers Cemetery at Upper Tract.

I MADE IT HOME -

I just wanted to let you know that I made it home.

Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh, so new.  I wish that you could close your eyes so you could see it too.

Please try not to be sad for me.  Try to understand.  God is taking care of me...I'm in the shelter of His hands.

Here there is no sadness, and no sorrow, and no pain.  Here there is no crying, and I'll never hurt again.

Here it is so peaceful, when all the angels sing.  I really have to go for now...I've just got to try my wings.
