Maxine Eye Burgoyne, age 90, of Upper Tract, WV passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

She was born January 16, 1929 in Brandywine, WV and was the daughter of the late Charles Curtis and Lynn Calhoun Eye.

She was a 1947 graduate of Petersburg High School.  Maxine retired from Pendleton County Schools, where she worked as a secretary at Upper Tract Elementary School for twenty-three years. She then continued working in the county schools as a substitute secretary or aide, and finally as a librarian at Franklin Elementary.  Maxine loved children and had a positive impact on many students' lives.  She was a member of Christ Central Community Church and Chapter #138 Order of the Eastern Star.

On November 29, 1951, she married William Burgoyne, who preceded her in death on September 7, 1985.  She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Ryan Dahmer Burgoyne and a brother, Charles "Buddy" Eye.

And two step-great-grandchildren –

Heather and Rachel Funkhouser

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street, Franklin.  A service conducted by members of Chapter #138 Order of the Eastern Star will begin at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at Christ Central Community Church, 9442 Petersburg Pike, Upper Tract, WV at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 17 with Pastor Sam Harper officiating.

Interment will be at Kline Cemetery.
