Mary Geneva "Kook" Thompson, 101, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, WV.

She was born August 23, 1917 at Ruddle, WV and was the daughter of the late John Hedrick and Fannie Hedrick Hedrick.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Reeds Creek United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed gardening and taking care of people and loved birds.

On December 27, 1947, she married Charles Clarence "Pum" Thompson who preceded her in death December 2, 2005.

She is survived by -

One son and daughter-in-law -
Nathan J. and Olive Thompson of New Creek, WV

Three sisters -
Icie Clark of Pittsburgh, PA
Madeline Whitecotton of Upper Tract, WV
Pauline Waggy of Franklin, WV

And a sister-in-law -
Pat Hedrick of Upper Tract, WV

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ina Cleta Hartman, Eula Mae Kimble, and Nellie Grace Galippo and two brothers, Alton Parker Hedrick and John Worth Hedrick.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin where a funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stanley Kile officiating.

Interment will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reeds Creek United Methodist Church, c/o Pam Hedrick, 744 Pretty Ridge Road, Franklin, WV  26807.

To "Momma Mary" from your daughter "Olive".  We started as father-in-law and mother-in-law and soon it became father and mother.  You and Pum were my second set of parents.  You became a mother to me "Momma Mary".  I thank you for all you have done for Nathan and I.  Thank you for your son, Nathan.  He is a wonderful man and husband.  You can be proud of him because you raised him to be the kind and generous person he is today.  Thank you.  With love, Olive.
