Mary Etta Peacock, 99 of Elkins, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at WV Caring Hospice Center in Elkins.

She was born Nov. 9, 1925 in Winona, WV.  Mary was a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia.

For over 50 years, she co-owned and operated J & P Furniture in Marlinton, West Virginia.  She had a sharp business sense and a strong work ethic.  She loved reading and was a member of the Eastern Star.  Mary dearly loved her family, and helped many, both family and friends, through the years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, as well as a respected member of the business community.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Merriel Peacock; her daughter, Karen Linzalone; her parents, Granvil and Ida Stokley; three brothers, Roy Stokley and wife, Mary Alice, Jimmy Stokley and wife, Edna, and Basil  Stokley and wife Jean; two sisters, Shirley Branch and husband, Edward, and Clara Lucile Stokley; one grandchild, Ronald Peacock II; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Kidd.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 16 at Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton, where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Sam Felton officiating.

Her final resting place will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Her legacy is one of strength, generosity and love and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
