Mrs. Mary Catherine Jenkins, 87, of Franklin, West Virginia passed away early Wednesday morning, February 20, 2013. She was born February 1, 1926 at Stoney Bottom, Pocahontas County, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Willie Burner and Marie Geiger Burner. Mary Catherine was a graduate of Green Bank High School and Davis & Elkins College. She was an educator, teaching third grade and business education for thirteen years in Allegany County, Virginia and teaching first grade for twenty-three years in Prince Georges County, MD, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, was an avid decorator, painter and genealogist. On December 30, 1946 she married John Ed Jenkins, who survives. Also surviving are- One son and daughter-in-law - John Michael and Becky Jenkins of Franklin, WV Two granddaughters - Amy (& husband, Brad) Moyers and Jennifer (& husband, Nathan) Hartwell Four great-grandchildren - Abby Moyers, Ryan Moyers, Jacob Hartwell and Benjamin Hartwell And one niece and her husband - Deborah & Phil Hoeper of Silver Spring, MD Preceding her in death was a sister, Elizabeth Maiden. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Franklin Presbyterian Church with Dr. Richard Young and Rev. Kevin Hand officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin. Brad Moyers, Nathan Hartwell, Jesse Eckard, Adam Eckard, Pat Baker and Charlie Sites will serve as her pallbearers and Gene Sites, Bobby Sites, Jack Kite, Norman Wilfong and Edsel Hogan will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street, Franklin, West Virginia. Memorials may be made to Mountain Hospice, P.
