Mary Elaine Alt, 84, of Youngstown, Ohio went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 18, 2021.  She had been a resident at Briarfield Manor since breaking her hip in late October.

Born November 5, 1937 at Hunting Ground, Pendleton County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Brison J. Sponaugle and Judith Marie Warner Sponaugle.

On June 28, 1978, she married Billy L. Alt, who survives.

Elaine was a 1957 graduate of Circleville High School and was a beautician and homemaker.  She was a member of the Youngstown Chapter of the Eastern Star and attended Evansville Baptist Church.  Hand quilting, leather work and ceramics were her hobbies – her handiwork was always done to perfection.  Elaine and Billy enjoyed spending time, especially playing cards, with their special friends, the late Perry and Clara Wiley.  Even though they resided in Youngstown, they always considered Pendleton County to be "home", spending as much time as possible here.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Sponaugle; a sister-in-law, Mary Kay Alt; a nephew, Michael Alt; and a niece, Tamara Jo Sponaugle.

Friends may pay their respects at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin at any time from 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 22.  A graveside service and entombment will be held at the family mausoleum at North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton on Thursday, December 23 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Theodore Bennett officiating.
