Mary Dyer Dalen, 88, of Franklin, WV passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at her home. She was born March 22, 1922 at Baltimore, MD and was the daughter of the late Dr. Osceola Dyer and Myrtle Curry Dyer. A 1940 graduate of Franklin High School and a 1944 graduate of Madison College, she taught school in the Pendleton County School System from 1966 - 1990. She was a Member and Elder of the Franklin Presbyterian Church, Member of the South Branch Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, was an avid skier and hiker, a ski instructor at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA, a swim instructor and 4-H leader. On May 6, 1946, she married Ole B. Dalen, who preceded her in death on January 19, 1992. Surviving are - One daughter - Andrea Dalen Larrivee of New Zealand One son and daughter-in-law - John and Mel Dalen of Franklin, WV Four grandchildren - Jonathan Larrivee, Emily Larrivee, Emma Dalen and Sara Dalen Four great-grandsons Nieces and nephews - Jacqueline Wilkins Upp, Dorothy Wilkins Miller and Jack Curry Wilkins And a number of great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters - Dorothy Dyer Wilkins and Rebecca Dyer Browdy, a granddaughter - Anne Curry Kelch and a nephew - James Dyer Wilkins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Franklin Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Hovland and Rev. Kevin Hand officiating. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens near Franklin. Clinton Bowers, Bill Pennybacker, Eddie Willis, Harvey Mitchell, Jimmy Waybright and Darrell Warner will serve as her pallbearers.
