Marie V. Dowdy, 86, of Franklin passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, where she had been a resident since September of 2014.

Born in Franklin, West Virginia on May 28, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Elmer C. Propst and Bertha Hartman Propst.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

On August 8, 1951, she married Clevie E. Dowdy, who preceded her in death on October 21, 1986.

Three sons –

Earl L. (Cathy) Dowdy of Franklin, WV

Donald (Mary) Dowdy of Monterey, VA

Dale (Judi) Dowdy of Bowdon, GA

Two granddaughters –

Kelly Williams and Amanda Dowdy

Two step grandchildren –

Doozie Pennington and Kenneth Avery

Two great-grandchildren

And seven step great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dowdy.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 9 with Revs. Jason and Jess Felici officiating.

Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin.
