Marie Alice Alt, 92, of Upper Tract, West Virginia passed away Saturday, August 2 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

She was born May 9, 1933 in Baker, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Charles VanMeter and Rosa (Moyers) VanMeter.

Marie retired from Wampler-Longacre after 34 years of service.  She attended Christ Central Community Church and was a member of the Petersburg VFW #6454 Ladies Auxiliary.

On December 31, 1965, she married William Vinton Alt, who preceded her in death on December 28, 2007.

One brother –

Fritz Weasenforth of Moorefield

One grandson –

Liam Alt

Three step-grandchildren –

Haley Hose, Zachary Hose and Blake Dolan

And one step-great-granddaughter –

Hadleigh Hose

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert VanMeter and ___ Schaffer, and two sisters, Phyllis VanMeter and Betty Rexrode.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 6 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sam Harper officiating.

Interment will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery.
