Leona Jean Hottinger's Obituary
Leona Jean Hottinger, 87, of Brandywine, WV passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia due to complications following surgery. Dennis and Linkie were there with her, as she had her reunion with Marvin in heaven.
She was born October 11, 1930 at Fort Seybert, WV and was the daughter of the late William Scott Ritchie and Bessie Mae Wilfong Ritchie.
A 1948 graduate of Franklin High School, she was a homemaker and had worked at Peers Esso in Brandywine, and retired from T & E Meat Market in Harrisonburg, Virginia after 35 years. Leona was a charter member of the South Fork Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
On September 9, 1949, she married Marvin A. Hottinger, who passed away on August 27, 1998.

One brother-in-law -
Tom May of Broadway, VA
Two grandchildren -
Lane Lucas (Michelle) and Travis Lawson
One great-grandson -
Emmett Kline-Lawson, whom she was very fond of
And numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Berlin Ritchie (DOD: 01-09-2018) and Raymond Ritchie, five sisters, Ruth Hottinger, Mildred Briggs, Arlene Kyger, Ina Mae Umberger and Erma May (DOD: 10-03-2017 - and with whom she had worked at T & E all those years) and a brother-in-law, Franklin Burkholder.
Leona (Sis) to the family, loved her kitty cats as well as all animals in nature and loved passing time sitting on her porch watching her hummingbirds, chipmunks and squirrels. She enjoyed precious times spent at her homeplace in Sweedlin Valley, loved watching her cooking shows and the Mountaineers on tv, loved to laugh and mowed her own grass right up to the last summer of her life.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Harold Cullers officiating.
Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandywine.
Memorials may be made to the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA, 2238 Old Furnace Road, Rockingham, VA 22802 or The Doorways, a non-profit organization near VCU to house loved ones in need while a family member is in the hospital, 612 E. Marshall Street, Richmond, VA 23219.
The family especially thanks Angie Rexrode for her endless acts of kindness to mom.
