Judy Mitchell Goldman, 70, of Rockledge, Florida and formerly of Franklin, passed away Feb. 20, 2016 in Rockledge.

She was born June 9, 1945 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  Her parents were the late Dr. Ona Mitchell and the late Pauline Eye Mitchell Keller.  Subsequent to Dr. Mitchell's death in 1950, Judy's mother married Ed Keller, who loved Judy and raised her as his daughter these many years.

After graduating from Franklin High School, Judy continued her education and earned both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia University.  She was an elementary school teacher in Morgantown for eighteen years, and also taught Headstart in Franklin.

Judy moved to Rockledge, Florida in 1986.  She was a social worker and worked with both the Medically Needy Program and administered Ryan White funds to assist AIDS clients.  She was particularly proud of her work with AIDS clients.

Judy met Mitchell Goldman, her future husband, in 1986.  They were neighbors.  Judy and Mitchell shared wonderful and special times with each other, their families and friends.  They shared trips to Alaska, Seattle, Lake Tahoe, Biloxi, New Orleans and Atlantic City.  It was particularly important to Judy to make "special memories" with family and friends.

Judy was always a loyal Mountaineer and loved watching WVU football games on television.  She was proud to be from Franklin and always looked forward to coming home for the Treasure Mountain Festival and Christmas.

Judy was predeceased by her older sister, Kay Mitchell Parsons.

Judy is greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 PM on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin with Pastors Jess and Jason Felici officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Pendleton County Library, P. O. Box 519, Franklin, WV  26807 or another charity of choice.
