John Edward Schaefer was born January 11, 1942 at Philadelphia, PA and was the son of the late John and Eleanor Schaefer. He served twenty years in the Navy at duty stations across the world. His sons, Michael and Mark were born in Okinawa. At Edzell, Scotland, he met his wife, Anne. His last duty station was Sugar Grove, West Virginia, where he retired. He then started a new life as an antique dealer. He loved antiques with a passion and truly felt at home in West Virginia. John died January 9, 2009 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, West Virginia with Rev. Thomas Huff officiating. Surviving in addition to his wife and sons are a stepson, Andrew Buchan and stepdaughter, Sarah Buchan and six grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the South Fork Volunteer Fire Dept., P. O.
