John D. Heavner, 82, of Upper Tract, WV passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at his home.

He was born April 6, 1936 at Upper Tract and was the son of the late Walter Heavner and Anna Dyer Heavner.

John was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. A 1954 graduate of Franklin High School, John was a lifelong farmer.  He had a passion for growing corn and was known for his "straight corn rows".  He was a member of Christ Central Church, and a charter member of both the South Branch Ruritan Club and the Upper Tract Volunteer Fire Dept.  John served as active Director of Allegheny Bancshares and Pendleton County/Community Bank from December 1972 to February 2006, retiring to Director Emeritus at that time.

On October 6, 1963, he married Helen Raines Heavner, who survives.

Jerry (& Kathie) Heavner of Upper Tract

J.D. (& Janice) Heavner of Upper Tract

Two sisters –

Sue (& Morris) Mallow of Upper Tract

Betty Puffenbarger of Staunton, VA

One brother –

George (& Betty) Heavner of Harrisonburg, VA

And seven grandchildren –

Adam, Kyle, Addison, Claire, Lydia, Katie and Hannah Heavner

Preceding him in death were a brother, Bill Heavner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harley and Retha Raines; brother-in-law, Bruce Puffenbarger and sister-in-law, Sally Heavner.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, January 25 at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street, Franklin.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 26 at Christ Central Community Church, 9442 Petersburg Pike, Upper Tract with Pastor Sam Harper officiating.

Interment will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract.
