Joanna Lee Sharp, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, March 9.

She was born September 21, 1929 in Buckeye, West Virginia as the fourth born child to Marion Chauncy Howard and Eula Gladys Rose Howard.  She attended Buckeye School in her earlier years and Marlinton in her high school years. On February 20, 1946, she married her life partner, Herbert Harvey Sharp, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Prior to that, they had moved to Ohio to begin their life and raise five beautiful children.  They were both life members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where she served as President.  Joanna loved to help others and she also loved to sew, make flowers, crafts and cook.  She made the best sausage gravy and homemade grape juice.  Hummingbirds was one of her biggest passions.  Every summer she looked forward to feeding them.

Gloria and Brenda Sharp

And many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a son, Richard Lee Sharp; a daughter, Sandra Lee Sharp; six sisters and two brothers.

Special thanks to the caregivers at St. Edwards of Green for the care that was given her, and an extra thanks to North East Ohio Hospice for being there and taking care not only of our mother, but family as well.  You are truly angels.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon Thursday, March 16 at Kimble Funeral Home, 18942 Seneca Trail, Marlinton, West Virginia 24954, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 Noon Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Felton officiating.

Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

A luncheon will be served at the Marlinton Presbyterian Church immediately following the committal service at the cemetery.
