Jimmie Lewis Propst, 88, of Hinton, VA, and formerly of Franklin, WV passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA.

He was born October 25, 1932 at Franklin and was the son of the late Charlie Lewis Propst and Margaret "Maggie" Whetzel Propst.

Jimmie was a Veteran, having served in the Army and Army Reserves. He was a carpenter and helped build the tunnel at Newport News, worked for Nielsen Construction and retired from the City of Harrisonburg.  Jimmie was a member of the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church at Hinton.

On July 13, 1953, he married Mary Ruth Kile Propst, who preceded him in death on May 25, 2021.

Elaine Propst of Bluefield, VA

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll Propst and Billie Propst, and two sisters, Edith Stone and Mable Cayton.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday, September 10 at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street in Franklin where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Edward Steele officiating.  Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery near Franklin.  Jeffery Whitmore, Chris Axford, Micah Axford, Chris Tewalt, Rich Glover, Spencer Stephens and Ryan Emich will serve as his pallbearers.
