Mr. Dorsey James "Jim" Cole, Jr., 73, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, died Monday evening, June 1, 2009 at his home. He was born July 4, 1935 at Grafton, West Virginia and was the son of the late Dorsey J. Cole and Nellie Wallace Cole. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from August 1953 - August 1957. He attended Glenville State College and Alderson-Broaddus College. He worked for the Dept. of U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. for 35 years. After retirement, he moved to Harrisonburg and worked part-time for the Harrisonburg Auto Auction for ten years. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church on Courthouse Square and the Fort Harrison S.A.R. On December 30, 1961, he married Charlotte Kimble Cole, who survives. Also surviving are - One son - Michael (& his wife, Leslie) Cole of Richmond, VA One daughter - Pamela Cole of Bristow, VA Two grandsons - Ryan and Sean Cole of Richmond, VA Two sisters - Patricia (& her husband, John) Sommerville of Bridgeport, WV Barbara (& her husband, Butch) Bryan of Philippi, WV A sister-in-law - Virginia (& her husband, Wally) Flatgaard of Harrisonburg, VA A brother-in-law - Keith Kimble of Franklin, WV And a number of nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Hyre. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, West Virginia with Dr. John Sloop officiating. Burial will be at the Ruddle Presbyterian Church Cemetery with members of the Pendleton County Honor Guard conducting military graveside services. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, June 5 at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg and from 12 noon to 1:00 PM Saturday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
