Mr. Jesse L. "Jess" Short, 80, of Franklin, West Virginia passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at his home. He was born April 15, 1934 in Brandywine, West Virginia and was the son of the late Charles Short and Charlena Nelson Short Scott. A 1952 graduate of Franklin High School, he was a farmer and had worked for IMCO, Hanover Shoe, Shank Wholesalers and as a pipefitter at the Sugar Grove Naval Radio Station, retiring from that position in 1996. He was a member of the Laurel Hill Church of Christ and attended Brandywine Christian Church. Jess was a Veteran, having served in the Army during the Korean War. On July 26, 1967, he married Doris Propst Short, who survives. Also surviving are - One daughter and son-in-law - Robin & Elwood Kile of Franklin, WV One son and daughter-in-law - Kelly & Lindsey Short of Elkton, VA Three granddaughters - Jada, Abby and Mati Short And two half-brothers - Harry Lee Scott of Brandywine, WV Benny Scott of Brandywine, WV He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Jane, Betty and Enid and one brother, Richard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 in the chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, West Virginia with Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery near Franklin. Military services will be conducted by members of the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 9:00 - 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Kimble Funeral Home. The casket will be closed.
