Janet Ersley Thompson, 66, of Franklin, WV passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA.

She was born August 7, 1950 at Petersburg, WV and was the daughter of the late Harvey C. Whetzel and Ersley Ratliff Whetzel.

She had worked at Hanover Shoe Company and had cooked at Pendleton Senior & Family Services.  She was a member of the Friends Run Church of the Brethren, the Franklin Moose Lodge and the Franklin Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by –

Two daughters –

Michele Thompson (& James Perkins) of Seneca Rocks, WV

Becky Thompson of Franklin, WV

Two sons –

Kevin Thompson, Sr. of Franklin, WV

Jeremy Thompson (& Victoria) of Franklin, WV

One brother –

Austen Whetzel (& Diane) of Franklin, WV

Six grandchildren -
Christopher Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Jr., Tyler Shears, Haley Paugh, Patrick Westfall and Carmella Paugh

And three great-grandchildren -
Dustin Welty, Tyrant Thompson and Hurikane Thompson

The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Hanks officiating.

Interment will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract, West Virginia.
