Mr. James Fredrick Fredman, 83, of Paw Paw, WV, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born September 10, 1926 at Paw Paw and was the son of the late George Fredrick Fredman and Nellie Gross Fredman. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Korea. He had worked for the B&O Railroad and retired in 1976 as a Supervisor from Celanese Corporation. During the 1940's and 50's, he was the leader and called figures for the Freddy Fredman and the Potomac Valley Boys Band. James was a member of Gideons International for 17 years, served as Mayor of Paw Paw from 1952- 1954, was a Boy Scoutmaster, served as Announcer for the Paw Paw Memorial Day Parade for 50 years and portrayed Jolly Old St. Nick for the Paw Paw community for over 50 years. His hobby was woodworking. On March 17, 1951, he married Genevieve "Genny" Likens Fredman, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years are - One daughter - Vivian (& husband, Dennis) Deetz of Short Gap, WV Three sons - James F. (& wife, Darlene) Fredman, Jr. of Short Gap, WV George M. (& fiance, Myra Cockrum) Fredman of Paw Paw, WV Steven M. (& wife, Michelle) Fredman of Paw Paw, WV Two sisters - Agnes Morral of Lavale, MD Patty (& husband, Donald) Carder of Oldtown, MD Fourteen grandchildren Twenty-eight great-grandchildren One great-great-grandson He was a loving Christian husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, October 15 at Woodrow Union Christian Church, Paw Paw, with Pastor Ken DeHaven officiating. Burial will be at the Woodrow Cemetery with military graveside services accorded by members of POST 13 VETERANS HONOR GUARD. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 14 at the Kimble Funeral Home in Paw Paw.
