Ivan V. Smith, Sr., 87, of Paw Paw, West Virginia, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia.

He was born March 2, 1929 in Romney, WV and was the son of the late Marshall Smith and Velma Alkire Smith.

Ivan was a Veteran, having served in the Navy.  He was a school bus driver in Oldtown, Maryland and worked in construction.  He was a member of Woodrow Union Christian Church. He was fondly referred to by his grandchildren as "Ganggang".

On June 28, 1952 he married Margaret A. Light Smith, who preceded him in death on March 11, 1993.

Wanda Whisner (& Tony) of Wardensville, WV

Two sons –

Ivan V. Smith, Jr. (& Patricia) of Paw Paw, WV

Carroll Smith (& Donna) of Paw Paw, WV

Nine grandchildren –

Barbara Lang, Richard Smith, Jamie Eaton, Trudy Hayes, Casey Abrell, Robbie Grady, Ernie Grady, Christopher Grady and Brandon Grady

Eleven great-grandchildren

And two great-great-granddaughters

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Davis.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, February 13, 2017 at Kimble Funeral Home, 188 Moser Avenue, Paw Paw, WV.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 14 at Kimble Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Travis officiating.

Interment will be at Camp Hill Cemetery in Paw Paw.
