Mr. Ivan L. Hartman, 84, of Franklin, West Virginia passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin. He was born September 12, 1930 at Smith Creek, West Virginia and was the son of the late John Esby Hartman and Mary Lena Simmons Hartman. Ivan was a retired educator and principal in the Pendleton County School System. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, American Legion Post #30 and the Franklin Ruritan Club. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. Ivan was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Debbie Marstellar Hartman and is survived by his second wife, Edith Simmons Hartman, whom he married July 10, 1999. Also surviving are - One stepson - Allen Keith Meadows of Pollock Pines, CA One sister - Juanita May Self of Mechanicsville, VA One brother - Charles "Reese" Hartman of Broadway, VA Six step-grandchildren And a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight brothers - John Layman, Otha Glenn, Lester Harold, Weldon Gerald, Heber Dean, Jesse Wayne, Richard Junior, and Michael Emerson and five sisters - Geneva Ruth, Ruby Gail, Mable Marie, Dorothy Lucille and Martha Geniel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Franklin with Bishop Jay Hartman and Elder David Hartman officiating. Interment will be at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, Maryland. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
