Mrs. Irene M. Landes, 91, of Riverton, West Virginia, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, West Virginia. Born December 28, 1919 at Riverton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Russell Ruddle and Floda Bennett Ruddle. She was a homemaker, had worked at Franklin Garment Company and was a cook at Dixie School. Irene was a member of the Riverton United Methodist Church. On February 1, 1936, she married Frank Landes, who preceded her in death on September 5, 1994. She is survived by - Three daughters - Bonnie H. O'Bryon of Elkins, WV Janet S. Nelson of Riverton, WV Mary Frances (& Greg) Monn of Maysville, WV One son - Morris Edward Landes of Lanham, MD Two sisters - Wilda Carver of FL Wanda McDermond of Bowie, MD Two brothers - Roscoe Ruddle of Fairfax, VA Henry Ford Ruddle of Harrisonburg, VA Ten grandchildren Twenty-three great-grandchildren Six great-great-grandchildren One uncle - Berlin Ruddle of MD She was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, three brothers,one sister, two sons-in-law, Patrick O'Bryon and Bardon "Bink" Nelson and one grandson, John Lee Nelson. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton, WV with Rev. Earl Bible officiating. Memorials may be made to the Burlington Children's Home, Make-A-Wish Foundation or the American Red Cross.
