Mr. Hobert S. Mullenax, 95, of Upper Tract, WV passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown, WV.

He was born October 27, 1924 at Cave, WV and was the son of the late Marvin Dewey Mullenax and Annie Moyers Mullenax.

Hobert was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from the West Virginia Department of Welfare (Health and Human Services).  He was a charter member of both the Upper Tract Volunteer Fire Dept. and the South Branch Ruritan Club, where he served as President and District Governor. He was a member of the Pendleton Masonic Lodge #144 A.F. & A.M., and was a member and served as Elder of the Upper Tract Presbyterian Church.  He worked hard to bring the Upper Tract community a water system, served as a scoutmaster for Boys Scouts of America, and coached the Upper Tract Little League baseball team. Hobert enjoyed hunting at the Long Hollow Hunt Club, and was an avid follower of Franklin Panthers/Pendleton County Wildcats sports.  After retirement, he enjoyed golfing at Needle's Eye and the Highlands, and woodworking in his workshop.

On October 21, 1951, he married Mary "Louise" Wheaton Mullenax, who preceded him in death on December 21, 2011.  Two brothers, Ted Mullenax and Marvin Dewey Mullenax, Jr. also predeceased him.

Phillip Mullenax and Gregory Mullenax

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, January 10, 2020 at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street, Franklin.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Upper Tract Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stanley Kile officiating.

Interment will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract with Masonic graveside rites conducted by members of Pendleton Masonic Lodge #144 A.F. and A. M., and a military graveside service will be conducted by members of the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
