Henry Mahlon Pitsenbarger, Jr., 88, a resident of Pendleton Manor, Franklin, WV, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

He was born June 17, 1933, in Moyers, WV and was the son of the late Henry M. Pitsenbarger, Sr., and Nora Alice (Smith) Pitsenbarger.

Mr. Pitsenbarger graduated from Franklin High School in 1952.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 – 1956, was a Korean War Veteran, and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9666, Sugar Grove, WV.  Following his military service, he worked for the Army Map Service (now the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), Bethesda, MD.  He then returned home to work on the family farm on Crummett's Run in Moyers, WV.  Mr. Pitsenbarger later worked as a Union heavy equipment operator on the Mount Storm, WV Dam Project, the Bath County Pump Storage Project, the Sugar Grove Naval Base construction project, and for the WV Department of Highways.  He was also employed at Sites Chevrolet and Mullenax Lumber Company in Franklin, WV.  Known for his quick wit and strong sense of humor, Henry's greatest joys in life were hunting, fishing, and cheering for WV Mountaineer sports teams.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sugar Grove, WV.

He is survived by a daughter, Angela R. (Angie) Nelson, and her husband, William E. (Bill) Nelson, Jr., of Franklin, WV; a son, Mark A. Pitsenbarger, and his wife, Jodie, of Lansing, KS; a grandson, Clay J. Pitsenbarger and Sydney M. Kostan, of Phoenix, AZ; a granddaughter, Kelsie O. Gwartney, and her husband, Colby, of Kansas City, KS; a granddaughter, Emily N. Kobetic, and her husband, Jeremy, of Sugar Grove, WV; three great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Shay Propst, and her husband, Sheldon, of Harrisonburg, VA; and the mother of his children, Frances Carolyn (Gumm) Thomas of Hot Springs, VA.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred A. Pitsenbarger of Brandywine, WV; two sisters, Mary Alice Wolford of Harrisonburg, VA and Louella Linnwood Coon of Fairfax, VA; and a foster brother, William (Bill) Bragg of McGaheysville, VA.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Kimble Funeral Home, Franklin, WV.  A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 31, 2022, in the chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Jason Felici officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery with military rites provided by the Joint Base Andrews Honor Guard. In consideration for the health of those in attendance, the family respectfully requests that you please wear a facial covering or mask.

Pallbearers will be Clay Pitsenbarger, Gregory Propst, Bradley Propst, Colby Gwartney, Eddie Sites, and Benny Mitchell.
