Mr. Glenn C. Vandevander, 85, of Leesburg VA, and formerly of Dayton, VA passed away at Heritage Hall in Leesburg, VA on Sunday, February 8, 2015. Glenn was born on January 18, 1930 in Zigler WV and was the son of the late Clarence and Texie Simmons Vandevander. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty L. Vandevander, Their two sons - James E. Vandevander Randall G. Vandevander (Pam) His daughter - Terry V. Mawyer (David) Four Grandchildren - Matthew B. Vandevander (Dana), Emily V. Budd (Ben), Leanna M. Ferreira (Trey), Abbey V. Church (Adam) Three Great Grandchildren - Krisanne and Brandon Vandevander and Kate Budd And many Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by - Four Brothers - Roy, Ray, Ralph and John Vandevander Four Sisters - Grace Newcomb, Evelyn Warner, Beula Sheets, Lucy Warble One Daughter - Nancy Sue Vandevander A Grandson - James Edward Vandevander II And his beloved dog Brandie. Glenn was a hard worker and proud man. He worked at BJ Aulde's Saw Mill in Franklin WV and volunteered for the Franklin WV Fire Department. He worked 33 years at Walker Manufacturing in Harrisonburg, VA, and upon his retirement, he worked as a part time bag boy at IGA in Bridgewater VA. A memorial service will be held at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, WV on Thursday, February 12 at 1:00 P.M with Pastor Tom Hanks officiating. The family will meet with family and friends immediately after the service.
