Glade Raymond Fertig, Jr. 77, of Bridgewater, Virginia, and formerly of Marlinton, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his home.

He was born October 28, 1946 in Pocahontas County, West Virginia and was the son of the late Glade Raymond Fertig and Leola Margaret Friel Fertig.

He was a graduate of Marlinton High School, a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, a member of the Marlinton Presbyterian Church and the Bridgewater United Methodist Church. He had worked for Cerro Metals, Virginia Metal Crafters, Bridgewater Post Office as a mail carrier and 7-Eleven as a custodian.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

On March 10, 1968 he married Charlotte Anne (Beverage) Fertig, who preceded him in death on May 16, 2024.

Five grandchildren –

Cody Trent, Cory Trent, Matthew Morris, Josh Whalen and Alisha Dofflemeyer

And three great-grandchildren –

Riley Trent, Kaleigh Trent and Xander Hinegardner

Four children, Sandra Renee Morris, Karen Anne Fertig, Christopher Todd Fertig and Brian Raymond Fertig, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday with Pastor Sam Felton officiating.

Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery at Marlinton.  Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps.
