Mr. George Wilbur Corbett, 83, of Paw Paw, West Virginia, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Western Maryland Regional Health Center in Cumberland, MD. He was born February 10, 1928 at Hancock, MD and was the son of the late Pete Corbett and Madeline Shives Corbett. George was a mail carrier in Paw Paw for 27 years and was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church, Paw Paw Lions Club, Harley Bohrer American Legion Post #128 and the V.F.W. Post in Oldtown, MD. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Frances Minnicks Arnica on December 13, 2009. Surviving are - His companion - Joan Maggio of Paw Paw, WV Three daughters - Denise Shepherd (& Luis) of Denver, CO Janice (& her husband, Dennis) McConnell of Paw Paw, WV Judy Perry of Gainesboro, VA Two sons - Mitchell (& his wife, Kathie) Corbett of Paw Paw, WV Andy (& his wife, Mary) Corbett of Green Springs, WV One sister - Hallie Fleegle of Hancock, MD Three brothers - James (& his wife, Barb) Corbett of Berkeley Springs, WV Bill Corbett of Delaware Donald (& his wife, Carole) Corbett of Hagerstown, MD One half-sister - Lana Stump of Williamsport, MD One half-brother - Terry Corbett of Hancock, MD Eleven grandchildren Twelve great-grandchildren And Matt Crabtree of Oldtown, MD, whom he raised He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, his long-time companion and friend, Rose Lewis, and his faithful best friend, Bud. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church with Rev. John Farris officiating. Burial will be at Woodrow Cemetery at Paw Paw. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church.
