Gene Wilson Smith, Sr., 69, of Brandywine, West Virginia died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was born April 17, 1941 at Ruddle, West Virginia and was the son of the late Olin Frederick "Poodie" Smith and Margaret Pauline Miller Smith. He had worked as an auto mechanic and at Marvel Poultry in Dayton, VA. On February 15, 1991, he married Patricia Payne Smith, who survives. Also surviving are - Two daughters - Ella "Ellen" (& Robert) Fielding of Harrisonburg, VA Theresa Smith of Harrisonburg, VA One son - Gene W. (& Christina) Smith, Jr. of New Market, VA One stepdaughter - Wendy (& Bobby) Crider of Brandywine, WV One stepson - Shane (& Becky) Eye of Donoro, PA Two sisters - Lucy G. (& Delbert) Propst of Brandywine, WV Peggy (& Jerry) Hoover of College Park, MD One brother - Jim (& Betty) Smith of Harrisonburg, VA And six grandchildren - Brittany, Brandon, Evan, Emanuel, Isaiah and Baylee He was preceded in death by two brothers, Olin "Sonny" Smith, Jr. and Gerald Smith. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, West Virginia with Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Burial will be at the Ruddle Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Kimble Funeral Home.
