Genavee Cornelia Wimer, 94, of Harrisonburg, VA passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV.

She was born September 22, 1931, at Smith Creek (Franklin), West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Denver Ray Pennington and Clara Permelia (Lambert) Pennington.

She worked at Kawneer Manufacturing, Lee Manufacturing and was a cafeteria worker at Harrisonburg Schools.  She was a member of Garbers Church of the Brethren.

Her husband, Phillip Wimer, preceded her in death on November 16, 2011.  Two sisters, Rosalie Simmons and Wilma Geil, and one great-grandson, Kyle Wimer, also predeceased her.

Six grandchildren –

Troy Wimer, Shawn Hottinger, Tracy Wimer, Billie Jo Hartman, Angela Hottinger and Amy Hartman

Eleven great-grandchildren

And five great great-grandchildren

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, May 11, 2026, at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin where a service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 12 with Pastor Cathy Puffenbarger officiating.

Inurnment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery at Franklin.
